The Mycielin Wind Farm (Polenergia Farma Wiatrowa Mycielin Sp. z o.o.) is located near Mycielin, Gościelin, Gościeszowice, Długie, Dzikowice and Sucha Dolna, in Niegosławice and Szprotawa communes, Żagań county, Lubuskie Voivodeship. The Mycielin Wind Farm was built in 2015 and obtained an occupancy permit in February 2016.

The Mycielin Wind Farm consists of 23 VESTAS V110 2.0 MW turbines with the tower height of 125 m and rotor diameter of 110 m. The total installed capacity of the facility is 46 MW. The farm’s operator is Polenergia Farma Wiatrowa Mycielin Sp. z o.o., a special purpose vehicle wholly owned by Polenergia S.A.
Initially the Mycielin Wind Farm consisted of 24 wind turbines, but in April 2017 the structure of the EW3 turbine broke and collapsed.
In all wind farms, after they are delivered for operation, post-construction monitoring of the impact of the turbines on birds and bats is carried out. The results of the 3-year research program, compliant with industry practices and decision on environmental conditions, are sent to competent authorities and to the communes where the projects are located. In the case of the Mycielin Wind Farm, no negative impact on the analyzed species was identified.
All emissions are subject to environmental supervision and are subject to pertinent industry authorizations and agreements. This pertains to both noise emissions, electromagnetic fields and waste management by in-house or external services, and water and sewage management.
In 2020, no fines were imposed on the company and no inspection was carried out at its facility.
In 2016, ornithological and chiropterological studies were commenced in accordance with the scope of post-construction monitoring project agreed on with the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gorzów Wielkopolski. The annual monitoring report was submitted to the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in 2017. The authority did not comment on the applied monitoring methodology and, while approving the results from the first year of the study, emphasized that the observed mortality levels for raptorial birds and all avifauna were relatively low, far from the threshold values determined on the basis of pre-construction monitoring. The next cycle of the study began in April 2018 and lasted until the end of March 2019. On 24 July 2019, the Director of the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Gorzów Wielkopolski approved the submitted monitoring reports by finding their compliance with the requirements of the decision on environmental conditions and indicating that it was not necessary to carry out additional minimization measures. The last, third, year of the survey commenced in April 2020 and finished in 2021, thus encompassing the whole phenological cycle.
Bearing in mind the results of the ornithological survey completed in the 2018/2019 season, which indicated the nesting of the red kite within ca. 450 m from the turbine (EW22), an additional analysis module was introduced to the post-construction monitoring. It was found in 2019 that the nest discovered in the 2018/2019 season had not been re-occupied by red kite. Inspections at the wind farm did not prove any cases of conflict between the representatives of the aforementioned species from the beginning of the monitoring (April 2019). Observations of the red kite will be repeated in the last survey season (2020/2021).
The Mycielin Wind Farm Wind Farm was put into operation in Q1 2016. In accordance with the decision on environmental conditions the post-construction noise study was carried out in August, September and November 2016. The measurements were performed by a certified subcontractor EKO-POMIAR. On the basis of the results, no breaches were identified, neither in the daytime nor in the nighttime. The results of the above noise analysis were submitted to competent authorities, i.e. Voivodeship Environment Protection Inspectorate (WIOŚ) and Commune Hall in Szprotawa in December 2016. There were no comments regarding the results, neither from the WIOŚ nor from the local community, and no complaints were submitted from the local community regarding noise. In addition, there was no need to implement any additional noise reduction program.
