Whilst developing projects and building new objects, the Polenergia Group establishes relations with local community and becomes an essential part of it. Cooperation between the Group and local communities is based on mutual dialogue and engagement. The Group supports initiatives regarding i.e. education, culture, art, promotion of physical activity, combating social exclusion and the infrastructure projects.

Preparation of sustainable investments must include the key dimension regarding development of business activity in a way that increases the positive social, environmental and economic effects, both direct and indirect, and at the same decreases the negative ones.

Preparation of investment includes development of Stakeholder Engagement Plans in order to formalize communication with stakeholders of given projects and develop complaints mechanism.

In accordance with the requirements of the Plans, in the course of development and operation of each project, Polenergia has introduced dialogue with internal and external stakeholders. The dialogue with internal stakeholders includes standard information sharing between relevant organizational units and employees involved in the project. Below are details regarding aim, frequency and form of contact with selected external stakeholders:

  • notifying the National Labour Inspectorate of the start of construction works,
  • notifying the Poviat and Voivodship Construction Supervision Inspector of the start of construction works,
  • regular communication with Gmina offices (e.g. at the stage of issuing building permits),
  • regular communication with suppliers and subcontractors in order to coordinate construction works,
  • communication with energy distributors in order to inform them about the start of construction works and make appointments,
  • contact with Creditors ( i.e. EBRD) and other financial institutions operating under the Equator Principles (EPFI) in accordance with the duties imposed by relevant financial advisor,
  • regular communication with local communities and residents (residents of surrounding areas, owners of properties leased for turbines etc.).

Crucial stakeholders for the Polenergia Group are:

  • business partners,
  • employees and collaborators,
  • customers,
  • local communities,
  • shareholders,
  • central administration (ministries and their units),
  • regional and local institutions (e.g. Regional Water Management Authorities, Regional State Forest Directorates, government inspectorates, town and commune halls).
